Telecom & Fiber Optic Supply and Services
Fibre-optic cabling, connectivity components, and telecommunications infrastructure products for high-capacity networks.
Wired Telecommunications
Overview
While fibre optics carry high volumes of data over long distances, most of the final connections inside a building — to desks, phones, cameras, access points, and building systems — run over copper Ethernet cabling. A well-organised wired network is reliable, easy to manage, and simple to extend.
H&Z Technology supports wired telecommunications projects with structured cabling products, cabinets and racks, patch panels, and cabling accessories, together with practical planning advice for organised, scalable installations.
Untidy, undocumented cabinets
Communications cabinets that are hard to trace, troubleshoot, or extend safely.
Inconsistent cable standards
Mixed cable categories that limit speeds and complicate upgrades.
Not enough connection points
New staff, devices, and systems with nowhere to connect without ad-hoc workarounds.
Building systems on the network
CCTV, access control, and wireless access points that all need reliable wired connections and power.
Key capabilities
Cat6 and Cat6A cabling for reliable gigabit and multi-gigabit connections.
Organised horizontal and backbone cabling following structured cabling principles.
Copper cabling products for voice and data communications.
Copper patch panels, keystone jacks, faceplates, and patch cords.
Wall-mount and floor-standing cabinets, open racks, and accessories.
Horizontal and vertical managers, trays, and labelling for tidy installations.

Fibre vs copper
Most business networks use both: fibre-optic cabling for the backbone and long links, and copper Ethernet for the final connections to devices.
| Aspect | Fibre optic | Copper (Ethernet) |
|---|---|---|
| How data travels | Pulses of light through glass or plastic fibre | Electrical signals through twisted copper pairs |
| Typical distance | Hundreds of metres to many kilometres | Up to 100 metres per Ethernet channel |
| Bandwidth headroom | Very high; upgrades often by changing the equipment at each end | High for building networks (Cat6A supports 10 Gb/s) |
| Electrical interference | Immune to electromagnetic interference | Can be affected; shielded options available |
| Power to devices | Does not carry power | Can deliver Power over Ethernet (PoE) |
| Typical role | Backbones, building-to-building, data rooms, telecom networks | Desk outlets, access points, cameras, phones, building systems |

Fibre-optic cabling transmits data as light and suits long distances, high bandwidth, and backbone links between rooms, floors, or buildings. Copper Ethernet cabling transmits electrical signals, is ideal for runs up to about 100 metres, and can also deliver power to devices (PoE). Most business networks use both: fibre for the backbone and copper for the final connections to devices.
Cat6 supports gigabit speeds comfortably and 10-gigabit over shorter distances. Cat6A supports 10-gigabit over the full 100-metre channel and is often chosen for new installations and Wi-Fi access points expected to need higher speeds.
Yes. We can help you estimate rack space, patch panel capacity, cable management, and power requirements based on your current and expected connections.
Please include installation requirements in your enquiry. We will confirm the scope we can deliver for your specific project.
